New Web Site Offers Help for People with High Blood Pressure, and Tips for
Prevention and Healthy Living

Untreated high blood pressure can lead to heart attack, congestive heart failure,
stroke, or kidney failure. This new web site offers free information, and ways to
monitor and control high blood pressure.

New York August 8, 2006 A new web site offers information and help to prevent,
monitor, and control high blood pressure. Dr. Jay B. Stockman said he created
http://www.HighBloodPressureWeb.com because there are so many people walking around
with high blood pressure who do not even know they have it.

\"Take a look around you. One out of three people has high blood pressure, and most
of them are not aware of it. People do not realize what a very dangerous disease
this is,\" said Stockman.
If left untreated, high blood pressure can lead to heart attack, congestive heart
failure, stroke, or kidney failure. However, that does not have to happen. All
adults should have regular physical exams that include a blood pressure check,
according to Stockman.

\"Very high, sustained blood pressure will eventually cause blood vessels to weaken.
Over time these weakened vessels can break, and blood will leak into the brain, and
this will cause a stroke,\" explained Stockman

Symptoms of a stroke include sudden numbness or weakness of the face, arm or leg,
especially on one side of the body, confusion, trouble speaking, or seeing, or a
sudden severe headache. If someone has one or more of these signs, they should get
help by calling 911 immediately, warned Stockman

His web site provides additional help and suggestions on potential damages that can
be caused by high blood pressure to the heart and the liver. Stockman also offers
tips on how to prevent high blood pressure, how to control it, and how to monitor
it.

\"You do not need to run to the doctor every time you want to check your blood
pressure. There are now some very accurate, and very inexpensive blood pressure
monitoring kits you can own so you can take your blood pressure as often as you
wish,\" said Stockman. His web site offers suggestions on units that are available.

\"The treatment goal is to keep blood pressure below 140/90 and lower for people with
other conditions, such as diabetes and kidney disease,\" said Stockman.

He also offers suggestions on how to adopt a more healthy lifestyle, including
healthy eating habits, reducing salt in the diet, maintaining a healthy weight,
limiting alcohol consumption, being physically active, and quitting smoking.

Stockman offers a great deal of information at no charge or obligation on his web
site at http://www.HighBloodPressureWeb.com
